How Famnavo works
Location sharing, SOS limits and your data, in plain language.
How location sharing works
Everyone in a family can see when sharing is on and who can see them. Only authorised members of the same family or group see a precise location.
Any member can pause sharing, share only during set hours, or share until a chosen time — access ends immediately. Parents manage this for young children.
A position is shown as “Live” only while it is fresh. Older positions are labelled “Last known location” with the exact time.
Safety and SOS limitations
Famnavo SOS alerts your trusted contacts with your last available location. It does not contact or dispatch emergency services. If there is immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.
An SOS is only marked “Sent” once our server accepts it. Without internet it cannot be delivered, and the app says so clearly.
Data retention and deletion
Each family chooses how long location history is kept: not at all, 7, 30 (default) or 90 days, or until deleted by hand. Older history is removed automatically.
You can export your data and request deletion of your account in the app’s Privacy & Safety Center. Family Heads can request deletion of family data; other Family Heads are warned first. Some safety and audit records may be kept briefly where legally required.
Famnavo does not sell precise location data or use it for third-party advertising. See the Privacy Policy.
Supported devices and background location
Famnavo’s web app provides location sharing while it is open and permitted by your device. Reliable tracking while the app is closed, the phone is locked, or battery saving is active requires the Famnavo native mobile app and device permissions. This capability is currently shown as Beta / not yet verified until it passes real-device testing.
Android: the native app is in testing. iPhone: use the web app from Safari until the App Store build is approved.
